Transport

With the closure of the Deeside Railway line in 1966 access to Aboyne has been by road only. Stagecoach run buses (201/202) between Aberdeen and Braemar on an hourly basis between 09:00 and 18:00, less frequently at other times of the day and at weekends.  If you want to go to Dundee there is a service run by Ember via Braemar (pre-booking required).

Public services from Aboyne to villages off the A93 is more limited. For while it's possible to take the Stagecoach 206 to Tarland Monday- Friday but only at 06:30 and back again 12 hours later!

The best way to travel to surrounding villages, including Lumphanan, Ordie, Tarland, Torphins and Banchory  is to use  the DEESIDE Village Hopper, a Dial-a-bus service, booked in advance, run by Aboyne Community Trust. The trust also run community buses (13 & 16 seater) for hire and offers a patient transport service to and from the medical appointments.

Larger coaches for hire are run by local family businesses in Aboyne (Allan & Black) and Lumphanan (E & M Lees).

There are also two local taxi companies.
